This will be the topic of the public lecture by Dutch investigative journalist and trainer Luuk Sengers from 17:00 on Wednesday, 15 November at ELTE Media and Communications Department.  The lecture will be followed up by a panel discussion with leading journalists about the sustainability of local investigative journalism. The public lecture will be jointly organized by the Media and Communications Department of ELTE and the Center for Independent Journalism. The venue of the event: ELTE BTK – 1088 Budapest, Múzeum krt. 4, A building, lecture hall 47 (ground floor).

In his lecture titled “Can you make a living from investigative reporting?”, Luuk Sengers, internationally known media trainer and investigative journalist will make the argument that the goal of watchdog journalism is not a story only to tell, but change; journalists can learn a lot from stakeholder and activist media, like working in alliances, running a campaign, presenting solutions and offering transparency. By doing so, they could raise their income and their influence.

The lecture by Luuk Sengers will be followed by a panel discussion with leading Hungarian investigative journalists.

The language of the event is English, no translation will be provided. Participation is free of charge, and a preliminary online registration is requested by this registration form till Friday, 10 November 2017.
